STRENGTH AND CONDITIONING FOR ATHLETES OF ALL DISCIPLINES.

 

WHAT PHILOSOPHIES SEPARATE WALKERSTRENGTH FROM THE COMPETITION IN THE REALM OF STRENGTH AND CONDITIONING?

 

1. Program design

I train the majority of my sports and conditioning clients based on four week long training blocks. Whether they deal with me online or in person the premise is the same: employ basic progression in either volume or intensity during a four week training block, gather feedback (general notes, RPE scale, total volume, actual weight lifted, general level of fatigue etc.) and make the necessary changes to the plan in the next training cycle to manage fatigue and keep the athlete progressing. Programs are specifically designed around a trainee's weaknesses as well as the demands of their sport. I've catered for and trained: gymnasts, powerlifters, rugby players, strongmen, footballers, MMA fighters, boxers and cyclists all the way from weekend warriors to seasoned professionals. Whatever your athletic endeavour being stronger, more conditioned and capable of more work will never be a hindrance. Strength is never a weakness.

2. Prehab, postural awareness and form optimisation

Each new athlete upon commencement of training with me is required to send through numerous photos of them in a relaxed stance as well as information on their previous medical/ injury history in order for me to pinpoint and remedy any underlying postural problems or muscle imbalances. Any corrective exercise will be worked into your weekly training routine along with regular stretching. This ensures my clients remain healthy and supple: ready to apply their newfound strength and work capacity to their specific sport in a safe and sustainable way.  

Regular videos, articles and feedback are shared between myself and all of my competitive clients via our group WhatsApp channel. I'm also happy to do audio feedback on lifting videos for my online clients and those that see me one on one or live in and around the Rivonia area can simply pop into our gym for a session and live feedback/queuing from me. 

3. Holistic and sports specific progression based training

All clients can be expect to become stronger, faster, leaner and more explosive while simultaneously improving on their general ability to do work through kettlebell training and GPP (general physical preparedness - weighted carries, sled pushes etc.).

 

Although a strength base is a must have for high level success in any sport these days it is not the be all and end all and we at WalkerStrength realise this. Routines are designed specifically with both the athlete and his or her weak points in mind - often resulting in a balancing act between strength and endurance. The kind of balancing act that only professionals can do.

PAYMENT PROTOCOLS AND PRICING:

ONLINE CLIENTS: 

- Month to month billing

- No contracts. However a one month's notice period does need to be observed 

- Flat monthly rate 

- Invoices go out monthly on the 25th and clients are expected to pay up front for the month, settling said invoice on or before the 1st 

- R2000 (South African Rands) or equivalent per month

ONE ON ONE CLIENTS: 

- Month to month billing

- No contracts. However a one month's notice period does need to be observed 

- Flat monthly rate regardless of how many sessions you attend 

- Invoices go out monthly on the 25th and clients are expected to pay up front for the month, settling said invoice on or before the 1st 

- No additional gym charges from our facility

- Clients are to please stick to semi regular time slots

- Sessions can be moved provided I am given 24 hours notice  

- Sessions CAN be made up at my convenience 

- R400 (South African Rands) per training session with a minimum of two sessions per week 

- Invoices are always based on a four week month. This allows me to invoice in full over the December period while taking 2-3 weeks leave
